Zak’s Jerusalem Gifts

My husband and I really wanted an old coin from Jesus' time. We looked online for authorized dealers before we went to Jerusalem. Once in Jerusalem, we found Zak's shop and were in awe of all the cool stuff he has! We ended up getting an oil lamp and vile, 3 widow's mites, a bronze calf found in Jericho, and a Herodian coin. He was extremely fair on price. He was also super interesting to talk to, we were there for quite awhile! I will have no hesitation to buy from him again in person or online. Thank you!

I recommend Zak's for gifts from Jerusalem. The quality is very good, the prices are reasonable and if there is a problem with your order, they will make it right to ensure you are satisfied.

We had heard about that previously through a Biblical archaeologist, who recommended the store. When we arrived at the store, Zak was very helpful and kind while showing us the coins. He also gave us a good deal. An extra star for the American and Texan flag! Looking forward to speaking to you when we return, Zak, Lord willing.

(I submitted this review 3 months ago on Zak's and it is still "awaiting approval") I’d be very cautious ordering from here. If you collect just know you are not getting “the” coin pictured in the listing. Notice the quantity button. You are getting 1 of hundreds or probably thousands. As a coin collector I expected to get the exact pictured coins like every other coin website online, but that is not the case here unfortunately. Although I did get a coin, it was of much lower quality than what was listed and pictured. Communication with Zak was good through delivery because of the ongoing conflict it caused delays. But since I have expressed displeasure he has pretty much stopped replying and has not even addressed the issue. I still would like to get the quality of coin I ordered and for Zak’s to make it right…also they need to have a statement on their listings going forward that “you are purchasing a random coin from a lot of 124” for example so customers know exactly what they are buying. Lastly, the shipment was pretty bad as well. They used basic USPS, the coins was left loose in a box, it was not in a sealed coin holder as was bouncing around inside the box. The wooden display case is poorly made as well as the round cover is not even tight enough to stay on the case. Although I’m happy the coin finally arrived after about 2 months of waiting, I probably will not purchase from here again unless they make some changes and make my purchase right. Update Dec 17, 2025 I communicated back and forth with Zak and he agreed that I should get the exact coin pictured and that he would send it to me. After waiting another 2-3 months they have sent nothing. I even tried writing back in Hebrew wondering if it was just a communication problem...but it was not. He said it (the second coin) was shipped and in the US....the problem though is that the tracking number was for the original coin that was shipped and delivered not the second one. My conclusion after multiple emails and mental games with Zak is that this is not an ethical shop unfortunately. He had no intention of making things right or sending the coin he said he would. If you are a coin collector of any type just know you are getting 1 of hundreds or thousands..not the exact coin pictured. The coin I thought I was paying for is still listed on the website. I never really post Google reviews, but since my review on his website was never published that maybe he will respond if I post it here.
