We stayed in the private room for 4 nights. The room was comfortable, we slept like babies. Silent, clean, comfy beds... The host is such a nice guy, he can help with whatever you need, you don't have to worry about anything. The location is the best part. I don't think there is any other place to stay in Jerusalem that has this good location. I worked from this place, so the WiFi is good for working too. The price is also very good for whay you get. If I ever come here again, I'm only coming to this place.

I ended up staying for 6 nights at the New Sweedish Hostel, extending my stay twice. It had everything I needed, and was perfect for a single female traveler. What I loved most about it were the people - I felt truly welcome and taken care of, and Samir was incredibly kind, helpful & accommodating. Highly recommend staying here! :)

We luckily had the hostel to ourselves for 2 nights before others turned up. The rooms were small but manageable, similar with toilets and separate showers, but always tidy and clean. The kitchen was well kitted out and a bonus with free tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There was also cold filtered water. And a fridge in the room! Washing machine was 23 ILS for 4.5kg, very cheap compared to others around the city. The owner was friendly enough and seemed to enjoy chatting to us about Jerusalem and answered our curious questions. There were some men that occasionally came through to make coffee and sleep in the dorm which was strange but they were always polite.

What you pay for is what you get. Most of these reviews seem to be forgetting that. Yes the bathroom is small and stinky. Yes the walls are thin. The worker (forgot his name) however, is very nice. He went out of his way to accomadate me and my two friends when we stayed two months ago. We had a mix up in our trip and he helped and was patient with us the whole time. This is a great place if you are on a budget. Don't expect a Ritz carlton.
