They make existing members of the nursing home pay and suffer for an expansion that only benefits new members and their own pockets + also seriously ration heating and food quality. If that is not deceit what is? Poor old people (like our mom) at this Beth Juliana nursing home in Herzliya. Food is of poor quality, often cold too. In winter it is cold as it has only single pane windows and the dining room is not being heated. Extremely religious too. Worst is that retirement home Beit Juliana had construction work done right over the heads of its elderly inhabitants with heavy noise, tremors, danger of falling stones and chemicals from 7 am - 2 pm all week. There was already a building accident. This construction project went on at least through summer 2020. There have been no temporary rehousing arrangements made nor suitable compensation provided. The few that get it are asked to hush that up. Meanwhile the burden on 40 apartments living over and under the construction project got worse. Dust entered through the window sills and noise was so bad and continues even after 2 pm unless the members call and ask to stop. Roofs leaked and water came in. A huge concert hall was also being built while less members visit the concerts. To what purpose? All this is at the expense of the health of people in their eighties and nineties. The director does nothing to solve this. Instead she tries to have online criticisms removed. Having pets is FORBIDDEN by the director. She also chases her customers when they feed cats outside in the garden.. So old people may not enjoy pleasure of taking care of a pet. For an expensive place like this, these circumstances are poor value for the high cost. Each apartment costs between IS 1 million and 800,000 and requires also to pay additionally at least a monthly fee of IS 18,000 for 2 people. They even raised fees while services decreased (less staff, less heating, poorer food quality). The cleaning of the members' appartments is a joke, only 1x week. So one has to hire extra help oneself to keep it clean. They can only get away with this because with many members (customers?) their stay there is funded by a WWII fund for war victims. If most members would pay directly themselves it would be a different story. The place would be empty. Interesting is to read their contract one signs at the beginning of one's stay. The contract stipulates that the paid funds of the purchase price are reduced by a certain percentage every year for the first five years and those funds were put in sort of an escrow of course then go into the pockets of the home its foundation board. However, the amount of funds paid does not get further reduced after those first years. That means that after five years members become financially a lot less interesting for the nursing home and it encourages them that way to try get them out of the way. Recently this nursing home Beit Juliana (or Beth Juliana) also started to let staff go from its kitchen as well as well as the concierges at the door that help the seniors. The consequence is that security and assistance of the elderly is compromised and waiting times to get a meal got worse. They also plan to reduce serving capacity and will instead switch (at least partially) to self-service, which is bizarre given how old most members are, so they cannot move around like hotel guests would. Finally the members are starting to revolt against this. The management + board of directors says it is because they have to reduce costs, which is no surprise given their grandiose construction projects. Fees are further increased. That way members pay for the construction done for others, not for extra value. Lets hope this place does not go bust. It does not look good. Complaints of members are ignored. A number of them have apparently even been told to be quiet, not talk at meetings. Staff turnover is also astoundingly high (indicative of the problems caused by management). Physicians there are not only NOT very knowledgeable but treat members poorly and ration their care when they are sick.

A place that makes you feel like home. A second family. Not only for the people that live there, also for the people that work there. 💜
